Statstical approximation to language(English)assumes several orders like zero order, 1st ,2nd order etc.Zero order means rare words from a good dictionary.First order means random selection of words frequently used in communication,Second order means:words like 'he' 'the' 'she' is given and subject is told to use this word in a sentence the word directly following he.the or she is noted and givaen to the next subject who mthen uses it in a new sentence.Such nwords are second order words. In this way third, fourth and any other order words can be formed. In one experiment V,VIII and IX grade children were given lists of different order words in a free and ordered recall test.Significant differences were observed in certain cases>experiece with a certain language did not seem to affect recall scores, indicating statistical order of words is not a very powerful variable in recall.
